Wig Length ! The Best For TG Women

I recently ran a test, on how the lenth of a wig determined how well a girl blended. I bought a darling short wig, from Breast Form Store. To my surprrise, the shorter wigi blended in better than the longer wigs. Now, I’m not talking about “your grandmothers’s wig”– but a very new more modern or even “edgy” cut .

If you have any long wigs you no longer wear, take it to your hair stylist and tell her you will not hold her responsible if it doesn’t work out (hair stylist will not cut a wig if you didn’t buy it from them) however iby telling  her it is an old wig   that you no longer like, and release  her of af all   finacial responsibility- many will take these longer wigs and cut them into updated, fun short wig.s Take in a few photos of short styles of women, so she understands what you want. I did this  re4cently, and I am familar with my hair stylist, which helps, and she cut the long wig, on my head–to match the photo. And, I love it–no one even knows who I am.  So, find a stylist,– tip her well always–if she takes care of you, and as you develope a relationship with her– ask her to cut your older, long wigs, with no liability. I was going to toss my anyway, so I only had a little cash to lose, but gained a wig that is real human hair-which looks so fun and even sporty to wear out during the day.

For TG women it is essential to devekope good relationships with your hair stylist (who knows your tg) and a makeuip artist at a store, and someone in the wardrobe dept. Tip them well, or take in a little gift. I tip my hair dresser–she is more important than my mailman or doctor!

Most TG Woman Want To Be Thin ( See Similar Article On TG Life)

Hello All- I recently have watched Housewives of Georgia, and several other movie stars–who have lost  baby weight in weeks. I have a child and it took   years.  Recently the gossip in LA is to take a water pill  maybe once a week( do not take my recomendation but ask your doctor as water is one of the causes of not losing weight) and add in a with potassium from your health food store, with salads (and some have a tummy tuck and a breast lift) and they get their entire body done in a couple of months. I use to think, I’m exercising and busy with my child, how can I not lose weight. Water is very heavy and it bloats.  I can’t be sure this is correct, and I have taken water pills (natural and from my doctor) and you can get sick–you have to spread them out and eat two to three meals a day.  I suggest a natural water pill from the health food store, has all sorts of vitamins that takes the water out. I would only 1-2 weells , and I could not believe how much water there I had lost. . Ask your doctor, if you have a weight problem, to test your thyroid and ask if you can take a water pill,  he probably will not want to give you a RX but ask him about a natural one. They worked for me! Take potassium pill each day, and the more the better. After you get feel what is working or not working for you – you might be able to increase to two per week, but again talk to you doctor. The more water you drink the better the results, as yo have water around your organs also.  The tummy tuck, that takes money!

I have written on TG Life a couple of years ago, and I am working with them, on getting back on board, I miss you girls!

Girls Like To Wear Hoisery Or They Prefer A Natural Leg With Lotion

Karen writes she has spider veins. Karen, one of the biggest hosiery mistakes for TG women? Wearing dark hose to hide spider veins, or un-shaven legs. Certainly, dark hosiery is excellent for un-shaven legs–but the key is the color of your outfit. Unless your ensemble is dark, you’re calling attention TO your legs, not AWAY from them. Dress in darker colors (skirt or dresses) to match the hose, or wear a longer skirt to cover what you want to hide.  I would wear pink tops, and dark pretty colors for tops, with interesting belts. Now, the stores have darker colors of hosiery, such as gray, blue, tan and it is really the style now, to wear the darker color hose, they are some thicker and more expensive, but I just love them.  Wear great boots when you can.. Remember to pull the eye up with lots of color, even in your makeup (eyes and lips). No one looks at them, as much as you do…we are all hard on ourselves.

And, bring lots of attention to your face with fab earrings.  More eye contact and smile more with white teeth! Also, I use the new spray on color for legs, and I love it. by Sally Hanson.  I go with the lightest color, and it is not the old type. It washes out that day. Experiment first. It dovers veins.

Tips For Looking More Feminine

Hello Everyone. Herewith some great tips.

SHORT TIPS TO LOOK  MORE FEMININE

1.

Handbags

Women with large breast and heavy shoulders should avoid carrying short-handled bags that finish around the bust area, as this only serves to accentuate your breasts and shoulders more. Go for a longer length finishing around your middle, or a clutch purse, which is carried in your hand.

2.

Handbags

Choose a bag, which finishes at the upper torso, just under the arm, rather than around your middle. You want to draw eyes away from your thick waist and hips but deflecting attention elsewhere. Any bag, which falls at your widest part, will make you appear heavier.

3.

Handbags

Bags can be used to draw the eyes away from the bits of your body you want to hide, and focus attention on those areas, which you consider to be your assets.

4.

Eyebrows

Tweeze the center of your eyebrows and look carefully to make sure you don’t get them too far apart. You can always go back later and remove additional hairs if you need more space.

5.

Poise

Should I sit on one or both of my feet? You’re sending a signal that you’re real casual when you sit on your feet. But when you have your legs firmly planted on the ground you’re actually sending a good signal that you are open, communicative and ready to respond.

6.

Poise

What gesture shows a woman is interested? If she likes you she’s going to look at you. She’s most likely going to gaze into your eyes. She’s going to lean forward. She may touch your hand. She’ll smile a lot. She’ll ask you a lot of questions.

7.

Makeup

Which Gloss To Purchase?

Pot: Products in pots, tend to be weightier and more viscous than those in wands, tubes, or vials.

Wands: Will lady down a thin layer of gloss and require less accuracy than a brush
Tube: Great on the go, tubes squeeze on lip-gloss in juicy pomegranate typically contain the sheerest high-shine shades.

.
Tube: Great on the go, tubes squeeze on lip-gloss in juicy pomegranate typically contain the sheerest high-shine shades.
Brush: Thinner, more pigmented glosses usually come with brushes, since they require very precise application.

8.

Shy To Date?

Stop thinking about you and think about the other person. You’re so busy thinking about putting your foot in your mouth — or not putting your foot in your mouth — that you’re not being all that you can be. Try focusing on the other person. Look at them not as a person who’s criticizing you or judging you, but as someone who wants to get to know you

9

Handbags

Handbags For Very Tall Women. Avoid long skinny-style bags. Counterbalance your figure with something broad, slouchy or unstructured such as a Hobo type.

10.

Breast Forms

What shape of breast form should I purchase? There are three issues: shape, size, and quality.

There are 4 basic shapes: Push-Ups, Rain-Drops, Triangles & Tear Drops. Shop For Your Price Range–As Breast Forms Can Be Inexpensive To Very Expensive, And Shop Many Different Web Sites.

11.

Push-Ups These are smaller and more oblong to allow for an even “push-up” effect. This style is often used for the lifting of your bust in your bras and swimsuits. These are often adhesive (Nubra and generic versions). Unless you have significant breast tissue of your own, these are not useful for most tgs

12.

Teardrops These forms add extra fleshy “full-ness” to your underarm area as the “tear” portion of the breast form is meant to be tucked into the band of your bra. This is especially important to Mastectomy patients and many Crossdressers when trying to achieve a very natural look. The tear portion is not really intended to stick out of the top of your bra although many tgs do so.

13.

Triangles This shape is the most desirable when thickness and protrusion are important to your look. This is especially important to smaller framed females and many Crossdressers who demand firmness and protrusion. It’s the most popular for TGs

14.

Raindrops:  These are simple half domes without any extra material around the form. They look most like a natural female breast but may not have the projection many tgs want. They are also made by only a few companies.

15.

The size of the breast form should generally follow the rest of your measurements. Tgs should resist the impulse to have especially large forms. It’s helpful to remember that the average bra size is a 34B. Now, most tgs do not have a 34 band, but stay with a B or C cup, especially if passing is important.

16.

We will talk about bra sizing next. In picking a breast form it’s helpful to follow standard clothing chart sizing (which each store has on their web site), so your clothes will fit better. It’s helpful to start with the measurement that can’t change (usually waist)… and then adjust bust and hip sizes to match the size which coordinates best with your waist.

17.

What about self-adhesive forms, for that braless look?

Most breast form vendors offer at least one model that can be worn without a bra. Some involve an adhesive support that attaches to the chest (no hair) and then hooks to the form via Velcro. This works well but the patches are expensive and can only be used once. Increasingly forms are appearing that do not require a patch but have the adhesive on the form itself. It may be reused some number of times.

1

Hosiery:

To instantly look taller and trimmer, go monochromatic by matching the color tone of your hosiery to your shoe and your hem.

19.

Hosiery:

With a brightly colored garment, choose neutral shoes and match hose to shoes. Example: red dress, taupe hose, and taupe shoes.

Very dark, light or bright hosiery colors and patterns or textures draw attention to your legs. Off-white or light beige can be worn with black during the summer season.

20

Hosiery

So what’s one of the biggest hosiery mistakes for TG women? Wearing dark hose to hide spider veins, or un-shaven legs.  Unless your ensemble is dark, you’re calling attention TO your legs, not AWAY from them. Dress in darker colors to match the hose, or wear a longer skirt to cover what you want to hide.

21.

Hosiery

What Size Hosiery To Purchase, For TG Women:

I would suggest buying a Queen size, if you carry weight in your stomach area, as this avoids the “roll down”. I have put Maternity hosiery of many TG’s who have a “barrel type stomach”, as it gives support and they will not roll down. They can be purchased on line or at JC Penny’s. I suggest a Tall size, if you’re over 5’10 inches.

22.

How To Put On Panty Hose:

I always “stretch” out and pull– my hosiery out before I put them on, as this helps with runs. Also, do not wear any jewelry, which “catches”–rings with edges to hold in the stone, will always run your hose. If this happens, apply hair spray or clear nail polish, to the run!  Put them on slowly, and gently bend at the knees, and bend forward… while applying them over your hips. Be sure your toenails are nicely manicured! My vote for evening? Wear the lighter sheer black colors.

23.

 Open To Shoes With Hosiery:

Donna Karen, has the ideal open toe (a small “hook which fits over the large toe”) hosiery, which does not show you’re wearing anything! Your legs can look great, and your toenails can look pretty in pink! Try a small toe ring also, put it on my spraying “Windex” on your toe, and slide it on. Looks great with the Donna Karen.

24.

Jewelry:

Its best to concentrate on YOUR jewelry zone. It is your neck, ears, wrist, or ring finger? Many say, do not wear all four of these jewelry zones at the same time, and to allow a “space” between zones. For example, if you want to bring attention to your face, wear great earrings but no necklace, and wear fun bracelets with one small ring. So, establish your best jewelry zone. Also, select jewelry that is both gold and silver, so you don’t have to switch back and forth.

25.

Count Your “Points” In Wardrobe

Many stylists will say, count everything and give it one point. Shoes, each jewelry zone, purse, glasses, coat, and for any outfit which has several colors or designs…give it two points. Before going out, count your points. For casual daytime, you want about 7 to 9 points. For evening, you want 9 to 14 points. Rhinestones count as two points also. Bottom line, if you have a simple black dress–add lots of accessories (points) and if you have a colorful, busy outfit–add fewer accessories.

26.

Movement

When sitting, always slide back in the chair to the side–not straight back. Also, for any photos–side poses (with one shoulder towards the camera) will always make one appear thinner. And, as important….pull UP in the diagram.

27.

Movement

Tilting your head to the side will create a softer more feminine appearance. Practice smiling in the mirror. This is often difficult for the TG woman.

28.

Stairs:

When going up (and down stairs) always keep both knees pointed in the same direction. Also, turn your body in– towards the handrail; while gliding your hand softly upon the handrail. Don’t look down with your head! However, glance down with your eyes. This helps avoids falling down the stairs, in heels! Be careful in long dresses, as your high heel can “catch” in the hem.

29.

Movement

While walking, or while standing and speaking you can keep one hand up, around your bust  and/or face–which is very feminine. When walking, you can carry a purse, with one hand up through the purse strap. Close the fingers.

30. Sitting

When sitting in a chair, the more you angle (twist) at the waist, turning a shoulder out to one direction, and crossing your ankles (pointed toes with heels off the ground)  in the other direction. I call this my “S-Curve”.  You will look sensual and sexy!

31.

Listening As A Woman:

As a woman, always listen more. Nod, often with your head while maintaining eye contact. Men, often do not maintain eye contact. Practice, by seeing how long you can look….before glancing away! Smile, also. Try an open mouth smile, and a close mouth smile. Tilt your head!

Mirror Behavior For TG Women

I was recently at a cocktail party, and an interesting person asked about my work. They discussed “Mirror Behavior”.  Goggle for details, but I am very interested in….how this will help the new Trans woman, with her movement. I found about 5 sites on Goggle, full of information.

To apply to how to look more feminine, herewith a few “jewels” I found.

1. Leaning foward towards the person speaking to you. (shows interest in him or her).

2. Straighten your jewelry, or move your hair.

3. Make direct eye contact and do not look at anyone else in the room. Show him interest. All of us are quilty of doing this. However, when you’re interested in dating someone…this is very important.

4. Act shy. Okay all males. This is important, Don’t take control. This is probably the one personality issue, my clients have the most difficulty changing.

5.Keep a prolonged look (but do not make them uncomfortable).

6. Practice not blinking. In fact, practice your facial “looks, smiles, eyes, teeth, etc. before you begin going out, so you get comfortable with your new image.

7. Ask the other person, about themselves. Wait until they ask about you…before you mention very much abouut yourself.

8. Women are comfortable with more space between them…than men are. Generally about 2 feet.

9. When you shake hands, keep your hand shake light, and keep your fingers and skin soft.

10 And, be sure and lean into them briefly when you are introduced or say hello.

11. Remember their name!

12. This is a must, keep your new feminine voice soft. Use the feminine gestures, I taught you in Vol 3 (Gestures When Speaking)

13. Try to point your toes, towards your date.!

Holiday Wrap

Dec 22, Hello Everyone-

If you’re going out to a holiiday party, but don’t want to carry a heavy coat around- the stores are now carrying darling faux fur throw to put over your shoulders. I love mine, you can wrap yourself up….like a small warm throw. The black faux fur will probably blend best with any holiday dress. I also wear mine with jeans and heels. This is a great wardrobe piece to wear anyplace–anytime!

Looking for Better Breast Forms

Although I liked the Amoena Aire breast forms, I continued to look for something better. I tried several other types of forms some of which I initially liked but eventually grew dissatisfied with all of them.

I tried the Transform breast forms which are popular in TG circles because they are (or at least were) inexpensive. I found them a little to “industrial” for my taste. They were sort of “tough” to the touch was was great for being stuffed in a bag but less so when worn for 8 hours or more. They ended up in my “old breast form box.”

Like most TGs I had fantasied about how nice attachable forms would be so that I could go braless, sort of the natural woman look, and the next best thing to having real implants. The first set I tried was some used Amoena forms that had velcro attachments on the inside. I found them on ebay for a fraction of their original cost. They needed special adhesive tabs that stuck to the chest and contained the matching velcro. The two velcro pieces held the forms to the the chest. It sort of worked but I found the tabs to be unreliable and very expensive ($10/pair). I often felt “insecure” and had some near disasters. In the end it did not just work very well.

After that I tried sprayon adhesive which worked much better and was much less expensive. It took several tries to get a good adhesive that did not irritate my skin, held the forms reliably, and could be removed from both the form and me with minimal damage to both. The first adhesive I tried caused intense burning on my skin and I nearly destroyed the form trying to get it off quickly. I ended up with a bright red marks on my chest which were sort of hard to explain (“Honey, I must have had a reaction to the soap in the hotel”). I finally settled on Holister Adhesive which worked well and did not irritate my skin. The whole process, though, was such a pain that I decided to forgo it. Getting the spray in the right place, waiting for it to dry, and then trying to remove it from the form and from me was just too much effort for the benefit. Somehow I always ended up with extra adhesive stuck on my skin which tended to attract difficult to explain lint.  As I have said before, my goal is to quickly get dressed and get out so that I can spend as much time out as possible. Spending valuable time on such an effort was not worth it. Besides once the forms are in the bra, it is hard to tell if they are attached or not.

I continued, though,  to look for a less messy attachable form alternative.  I next tried the adhesive support bras (like NuBra). I bought generic versions on ebay for $5-8 per set and found they stuck nicely to my chest. I could remove them easily (but carefully – ouch) and they lasted 10-15 wearings. Using 2-3 forms layered on one another provided a nice fullness. I wore them regularly for several months, both with and without a bra. Unfortunately they also tended to be really solid feeling since their real purpose is to support and enhance natural breasts, not replace them. They felt just too unnatural and so ended up growing dissatisfied with them too. I ended up going back to the Amoena forms.

Later I heard about PAL beast forms on the internet and tracked them down on ebay. PALs are non-silicone breast forms. They are soft, look very nice and are comfortable to wear. They are also virtually indestructable. One can crush them, stretch them, or even trim them with a scissors without any problems. Somewhere there is an ad showing one being run over by a car with no ill effects. Unlike regular silicone forms that contain a gel with a wrapper around it, PALs are solid all the way through. There is nothing to leak out or damage. If you are the type not to be careful when you pack things up, they are great. They are also nice for sleeping in as they cannot be damaged by laying on them.  I wore them on and off for several years before going back to the Amoena Aire forms. Once again I felt they were are just a little too “solid” to  feel natural. I also found that when I packed them in my suitcase and checked it, I was almost certain to have the suitcase opened by airport inspectors. They must have the same xray image as more dangerous items. Its funny since my Amoena forms never seem to trigger such inspections but the PALs always do.

The net result of all my investigations was to stick with my Amoena forms. I was able to buy a second set on ebay for only $70 and my search for breast forms pretty much ended except for one slight problem that I will cover in a future post.

Looking for the Perfect Bra

I think I have been searching for the perfect bra for most of my tg life (which is to say most of my actual life). I have purchased and discarded dozens of them. Most of them I tried on in the store and there they looked good and felt good. However after wearing it for 6 to 8 hours, I often conclude they are just too uncomfortable and so they end up in the Goodwill bag. I make sure they are the right size and I adjust the straps properly but after some period of time I cannot wait to get it off.

Its not like I am asking a lot, just something that holds my forms in place, looks pretty, and is comfortable to wear all day (of course if you plan to wear it only few hours, comfort may not be so important but for me it is). Is that too much?

I quickly found I like the “official” mastectomy bras. They do a good job of holding the forms in place  since they have little “pouches” in the cups for holding the forms. Unfortunately  they are really heavy feeling and sort of “industrial”. They are not very pretty and I feel sorry for those women who must wear them. It feels like adding insult to injury.

I have also mostly given up on underwire bras. It is really a shame because they do a good job with the forms and many are very pretty in lots of nice colors. Most of the bras in stores are underwires. I think Victoria’s Secret pretty much only sells underwires. Unfortunately after a couple of hours I feel like screaming. I was able to find one reasonably comfortable underwire bra which was a front hook model. Unfortunately the company that made it (Fruit of the Loom) promptly went out of business shortly after I found it and so I could no longer buy them.

A very special category of underwire bras are those with “molded cups.” I don’t get those at all. Imagine placing your boobs in a couple of round cardboard boxes and you get the idea. They are very popular on ebay and there are many vendors who will sell you 6 very pretty bras for around $20. But I cannot imagine any woman wearing them for more than 20 minutes (although perhaps they don’t need to…). Perhaps they know something I don’t.

That leaves me with the bras without underwires. There are fewer of them and many have a problem holding forms since their cups are not so well defined but I have found a couple that I really like. Bali’s “Double Support” bras do a great job holding the forms and come in different colors. They also come in really large sizes (both band and cup) which is not so important to me (I wear a 38B) but does work for larger girls. They have a cotton version which is really comfortable, especially in warm weather. My only problem is that they feel a little “industrial” and heavy (hence the “double support” part).

The best bras I have found so far has been those by Warner’s. They have changed the name and styles of them over the years but currently it is called the “Friday Bra”. Its comes in both nylon mesh (but not sheer) and cotton (great for warm weather). It comes in different styles too and is sometimes just called the “wire free” bras. Some models are called “Daisy Lace.” They are available in white, black, and beige but also in other pretty colors that seem come and go over time The bra manufactures love to change their offerings on a frequent basis and so what is available now may not be in a year  (just like the companies that make lipsticks). They are very stretchy and so do a good job holding the forms in place but also offer good support. I have found them very comfortable and can wear them all day without any problems (a little baby powder between the forms and skin helps things stay “fresh”). I currently have a drawer full of them and they are pretty much what I wear all the time. While I like them they are still not quite as colorful as I would like and so I continue on the search for the perfect bra.

Shopping on ebay

I am a complete ebay shopaholic. I bought my first femme item in 1999 and since then I have bought over 1000 items from various vendors. I have bought everything: wigs, tops, pants, dresses, shoes, underwear, makeup, and jewelry. Probably more than half of my wardrobe comes from ebay. For me ebay shopping is mostly about getting a great deal. I have no problem going out and shopping in femme, but doing it on ebay can save lots of money. It also sometimes serves as “femme time” when I cannot get out for one reason or another.

For my this post I thought I would share some of what I have learned over the last 10 years.

First, set a budget for what you buy. I have a rule: No more than $20 for any single item. This includes tops, bottoms, shoes, etc.. I cheat a little when it comes to dresses and suits but they are “really” two pieces (or at least that is what I tell myself). What I typically spend is usually a lot less, probably around $10-12 per item.

Second, really know your measurements and don’t believe sizes. If the item does not have measurements, don’t buy it. Women’s clothes have become “larger” over the years so that what is now a 14 used to be a 16 or an 18. It also helps to know the difference between Misses, Juniors, and Womens (or plus sized). A 14W is quite a different garment than a 14. Again the trick is to know your measurements and that of the garment.

Third, find your favorite designers and buy their items. I have 5 to 7 designers that make up most of my wardrobe (including shoes). I have found their products fit me well and leads to a consistent look. Your favorites will take into account your own style, your age, and your body shape. Of course one can always get something from an unknown, but the risk of it not working out is higher.

Fourth, buying multiple items from the same seller at the same time can result in significant savings in shipping costs. Usually they will “combine” shipping costs so that the total is less than for the same number of individual items.

Fifth, expect to toss anywhere from quarter to half of what you buy. It will not fit right, it will not look right, the color is not what you expected, etc.. Most of the time it will not be worth returning, even if the seller allows it. I think I have returned something maybe 5 times. They have all been dresses that  I paid between $30-40. If I have paid $15 for a skirt and want to return it, the postage is probably $5-7 plus my time. Usually it is not worth it. This is part of the reason why I have the $20 rule.

Sixth, if you are just starting out consider buying “lots”. These are usually used items that a seller has bundled together that are the same size and often coordinated. Sometimes one can get 20-30 items for $100-150. It is a great way to start a wardrobe. Of course, you will toss half of it but it is still a great deal.

Finally, figure out how you are going to pay for the items and have them shipped to you. Given my situation, I cannot have them shipped to my home and so I got a Post Office box (it is only $64/year) under my guy name. All my ordering on ebay is under my femme name but I still have it shipped to the PO box. The Post Office will usually accept mail for a PO box with a different name than is on the registration. I “trained” the people at my local post office by mailing all sorts of “dummy” items to my PO box using my femme name and so they got used to delivering it. I have never had them reject a real ebay package. If they ask I just say a friend is using my PO box while she is traveling and they are okay with that.

That is for now. If you have any useful ebay experiences please drop me a note.
